What’s In A Logo?
Today’s topic is one I have kept to myself for a while. Only a select few are in on it. But I figured I’d let everyone in on it today!
Our logo was actually revamped when we moved into our previous location in 2015. Not that there was anything wrong with the previous one, it’s just that it only really encompassed the skincare brand Apple Organics, and not The Space as a whole. The previous logo was oftentimes mistaken for a flower, when in fact it was apple seeds. I knew when designing the new logo that I wanted a cleaner design that appealed to everyone. I wanted it to be free of any masculine or feminine energy all the while appealing to all ages and races. (Our name fell under this same consideration, but I’ll save that one for another blog post.) Being an eco-conscious business as well as organic and holistic based, it felt natural to include the “leaf” within the “O” of AO.
One of the biggest rules of design is consistency. So when I was designing this new space, I knew I had to keep it consistent with our logo and not stray from it. If you look closely at our logo while standing in the main salon facing the back wall, you will see that you are actually standing within all the colors of our logo! (You can see this perfectly illustrated in the photo.)
The walls, exposed ceilings, cabinetry, countertops, ceiling fan and more are all white, which corresponds to the color of the writing on the logo. Next is the gray background which corresponds with the gray stained concrete floors. Lastly, the two different sides of the “leaf” within the “O” of AO are showcased on the walls towards the back of the salon. It may not look like the same two colors on the walls, but that’s because the lighting in the photo is throwing it off. However next time you’re at The Space, feel free to grab a card and check it out for yourself and see they indeed match perfectly!
So how about that? Our entire logo can be seen the moment you walk into our doors. You can’t get more on-brand than that, huh? Keep checking in because I’m letting you in on more tidbits and anecdotes about AO and The Space in the next few weeks…stay tuned!
Stay healthy, stay well, and have a beautiful day!
